RCC Pride Concert

June 3 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on June 4, 2017 at 4:00pm

Renaissance City Choir (RCC), Western Pennsylvania’s only LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Allies) choral group, will be at ELPC to present their 2017 Pride Concert, FREEDOM! To Speak, to Love, to Live, to be Powerful!

RCC will sing songs that encourage us to stand up for our values and for the respect of all people—from South African freedom songs to American civil rights protest songs, as well as spirituals and contemporary songs that call for compassion and unity. Some of the songs will be: Freedom is Coming, Siyahamba, People Like Us, Everything Possible, When I Fall in Love, Would You Harbor Me, I Can’t Keep Quiet, Moses Hogan’s The Battle of Jericho, and You Can’t Stop the Beat (from Hairspray), and Rise Up, My Love (based on the Song of Solomon). A sign language interpreter will be provided.

The choir is an Artist in Residence at ELPC, where they rehearse and perform. RCC affirms and celebrates LGBTQ+ identity through the unifying power of music.

Tickets will be available at the door, by calling 800.838.3006, or at RCCPittsburgh.com.

If the weather is rainy, the performance will take place in the Social Hall.
