Holy Week and Easter worship services and schedule

  • Wednesday, April 20, 7:00 pm. Holy Week Taizé service, in the Chapel. Childcare available from 6:45 to 8:15 in the Nursery.
  • Holy Week at East Liberty Presbyterian ChurchMaundy Thursday, April 21, 7:00 pm: Share in the Upper Room meal--join us for a Maundy Thursday service with communion. In the Sanctuary.
  • Good Friday, April 22:
    • 12:00 pm: Good Friday service remembering the final hours of Jesus’ life and his crucifixion. In the Chapel.
    • 12 - 3pm: Ecumenical worship service at St. James AME. Rev. Bush will preach and deliver the Fourth Word, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
    • 7:00 pm: Tenebrae Service of light and darkness, recalling Jesus’ trial, crucifixion and death. In the Sanctuary.
  • Saturday, April 23: Walk through the church with us on Saturday, as we keep the Easter Vigil by remembering the promises of our baptism faith. Join us for an evening Easter Vigil, beginning at 7:00 pm in the Courtyard.
  • Labyrinth: The labyrinth is open most days during Holy Week for extended hours. View details and times on the Labyrinth webpage. In the Social Hall.
  • Centering Prayer: Tuesday, April 19, 7:00 pm. Room 250

Artwork by Dr He Qi on exhibit at ELPCArtist He Qi paintings and talks at ELPC
ELPC is very pleased to welcome contemporary Chinese artist He Qi, whose art is on display in Room 234 and the 2nd Floor Parlor. Dr. Qi will also be doing three artist presentations on his work: Wed, April 27; 8:15-7:00 pm; Fri, April 29, 7:00-9:00pm; Sun, May 1, 12:15 to 1:30 pm. One Great Hour of SharingOne Great Hour of Sharing: Easter Sunday, April 24
Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing. Our gifts support disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development. Offerings collected April 17 & 24.

Mother’s Day Cards
The Healthy Women Healthy Families ministry supports health projects that care for women and children in Africa This year, honor your mother or other significant woman in your life with a specially-designed Mother’s Day card to support Healthy Women Healthy Families, a program of the PC(USA)’s International Health and Development office. These cards are available for a requested donation of $10 during the fellowship time between services on Easter Sunday, after the 11:00 worship on May 1, or from Kate Carlson in the church office during the week. Musical May
Etta Cox During the month of May, glorious music will be filling the sanctuary at ELPC throughout the month, not only during Sunday morning services, but also at several special events to make note of, including a recital on May 22 by Dr. Ed Moore, our organist and music director, and a special worship service on May 14 with Pittsburgh jazz legend Ms. Etta Cox. East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry
The EECM Food Pantry provides food for individuals and families facing hunger in Pittsburgh. April’s “Food of the Month” is rice.
