SpotlightFall Rally Day, September 11, 2011

Rally Day is Sunday!
Our regular worship schedule and full array of Church School classes resume this Sunday, September 11. Please join us at 9:30 for a simple breakfast on the second floor before Christian Education classes begin at 9:45. View the Rally Day 2011 Newsletter for details. Our 11:00 music this Sunday will include a commemoration of the 9/11 anniversary and will feature special music. In addition to our resident musicians, we will have a brass quartet and timpani / percussion joining us.

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, please join us Sunday afternoon for two special events:

  • ELPC is hosting an afternoon peace service, “An Afternoon for Peace: Remembering 9/11,” open from 12:30 to 4:30. Read more.
  • Rev. Bush will be a featured speaker at the 9/11 remembrance service, “Memory & Hope: An Interfaith Remembrance of 9-11,” held at the Rodef Shalom synagogue. Bush will be preaching the sermon titled “Prisoners of Hope.” Read the press release

  • Seekers: We will review the Seekers schedule for 2011-2012, and catch up on what’s been happening in our lives over the summer. Room 234.

September 18 is the Church Picnic!
ELPC Annual Church PicnicJoin us September 18th after the 11am worship service for our annual church picnic. Seating will be available in the Social Hall as well as in the Courtyard. The Christian Education Ministry Team will provide fried chicken and hot dogs, and the Stewardship Committee will provide a special dessert in celebration of our congregation’s generous giving this year. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish to share. Read more details

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry
The EECM Food Pantry provides food for individuals and families facing hunger in Pittsburgh. September’s “Food of the Month” is macaroni and cheese.

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Men’s Shelter
During the month of September, the Deacons are continuing to collect deodorant, shampoo, and men’s socks for EECM’s Men’s Shelter. Donations may be left in the hallway baskets. Thank you for your support!
