Summer Film Series continues, July 15
The Justice Committee, part of ELPC’s Mission Board, will be your hosts for a series of four justice-themed movies. Join us (in air-conditioned Room 234!) for the second of four films this month. Bring a dish to share for a pot-luck lunch. A group discussion follows each movie. No RSVPs required.
Sunday, July 15: The Dark Side of Chocolate, a 2010 documentary film (45 minutes) about the exploitation and slave trading of African children to harvest chocolate that is still occurring nearly ten years after the cocoa industry pledged to end it. Read more
Worship services, Sunday July 15

Christian Education, Sunday July 15, 9:15 - 9:50 am
- Adult Summer Series, final session: “A Call to Discipleship,” with Mary Alice Lightle. Second floor parlor.
- Our other Christian Education classes are on a summer break. Please join us on September 9 for Rally Day when our regular class schedule resumes.
Worship and prayer opportunities during the week
- Centering Prayer: Every Tuesday, 7:00pm. Second floor library.
- Labyrinth prayer walk: Open 9:00 am to 1:30 pm on Mondays, and 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Wednesdays. In the Social Hall.
- Taizé prayer service. Join us this week, July 11, at 7pm, in the Chapel. The hour-long service includes sung prayers, simple, beautiful music, a time of silence, spoken and silent prayers, and opportunity for individual prayer.

Mission trip to Talladega, Alabama, July 22 - July 28
Beulah Presbyterian Church is looking for volunteers to join their mission trip to do relief work in Talladega, Alabama this summer. Work projects will involve rebuilding and support of the community that was devastated by tornados earlier this year. Cost: $225 per person which includes transportation, lodging, food. Young adults work at Garfield Farm, July 12, 6pm
On Thursday from 6:00 pm until dusk, the young adults will spend an evening learning about and serving on a reclaimed urban gardening lot with our ministry partner Garfield Community Farms. Meet in the ELPC lobby to travel together at 5:30 pm or meet at GCF at the corner of Cornwall & Wicklow Streets. Read more

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry
The EECM Food Pantry provides food for individuals and families facing hunger in Pittsburgh. July’s “Food of the Month” is Macaroni & Cheese.
East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Men’s Shelter
During the summer months, the Deacons will continue to collect men’s toothpaste, shampoo, and flip flops/shower shoes for EECM’s Men’s Shelter. Donations may be left in the hallway baskets. Thank you for your support! |
