Register for “In Our Backyard” Mission Trip, August 4 - 5
Join us for a Garfield Immersion Weekend, August 4 - 5. This is an intergenerational event and families are encouraged to participate! We will be building on our existing relationships with Valley View Presbyterian Church, Open Hand Ministries, and Garfield Community Garden. Choose projects in any or all three locations. Other options include an overnight at Valley View on Saturday night and worshipping with them on Sunday morning. For more information, contact Michele Bossers, (412) 303-9243.
Summer Film Series continues, July 22
The Justice Committee, part of ELPC’s Mission Board, will be your hosts for a series of four justice-themed movies. Join us (in air-conditioned Room 234!) for the third of four films this month. Bring a dish to share for a pot-luck lunch. A group discussion follows each movie. No RSVPs required.
Sunday, July 22: Solitary Confinement: Torture in Your Backyard, a documentary film (20 minutes) that makes the case that solitary is damaging. Read more
Worship services, Sunday July 22

Christian Education, Sunday July 22, 9:15 - 9:50 am
- Our other Christian Education classes are on a summer break. Please join us on September 9 for Rally Day when our regular class schedule resumes.
Worship and prayer opportunities during the week
- Centering Prayer: Every Tuesday, 7:00pm. Second floor library.
- Labyrinth prayer walk: Open 9:00 am to 1:30 pm on Mondays, and 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on Wednesdays. In the Social Hall.
- Taizé prayer service. Join us this week, July 18, at 7pm, in the Chapel. The hour-long service includes sung prayers, simple, beautiful music, a time of silence, spoken and silent prayers, and opportunity for individual prayer.

Presbyterian Women collecting hygiene kits
Hygiene kits are one way to share in a hope-filled tomorrow. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of children and families the world over. Throughout the month of July, Presbyterian Women are collecting hygiene kits for disaster victims around the world. Pick up details on the PW bulletin board outside the library. Please leave items or completed kits in the church office. Monetary gifts are welcome: Make checks payable to “Presbyterian Women in East Liberty Presbyterian Church.”
Exercise classes continue in the summer
Tai Chi classes continue Tuesdays through July 31, from 10 - 11 am, and 6 - 7 pm. Yoga continues every Thursday year-round, Thursdays, from 7:15 - 8:45 pm, and JourneyDance continues year-round on the second Friday of the month, from 7 - 8pm. East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry
The EECM Food Pantry provides food for individuals and families facing hunger in Pittsburgh. July’s “Food of the Month” is Macaroni & Cheese.
East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Men’s Shelter
During the summer months, the Deacons will continue to collect men’s toothpaste, shampoo, and flip flops/shower shoes for EECM’s Men’s Shelter. Donations may be left in the hallway baskets. Thank you for your support! |
