The ELPC Chancel Choir section leaders will present an eclectic program of solo and ensemble works on Sunday, January 27 at 4 pm in the Chapel. Open Gym Time for Families!  Tues, Jan 29th | 2pm - 4pm  Open Gym Time for Families!

On Tuesday, January 29th, the Pittsburgh Public Schools are closed. But, the Gym and Bowling Alley at East Liberty Presbyterian Church will be open for parents and adults to bring children and youth for a time of intergenerational recreation. Staff and volunteers will be on hand but adults are expected to stay at the church and chaperon the children they bring. For more information please call Sara Hackett, (412) 441-3800 x20.

  • Seekers: “Christianity in Aotearoa” (New Zealand), part 2 of 2, with Rev. Bush. Joint class with the Contemporaries. Meets in the Second Floor Parlor.
  • Soul Food: We continue our discussions on chapter 1 in Things Hidden: Scripture as Spirituality, by Richard Rohr. Special guest facilitator Tom Menk. Pastor’s Conference Room, second floor.
  • Young Adults meets next on February 17 to continue their discussion of Love Wins by Rob Bell.

  • Centering Prayer: Centering Prayer meets every Tuesday evenings. Join us tonight, Walk the labyrinth at East Liberty Presbyterian ChurchJanuary 15, 7:00pm. Second floor library.
  • Labyrinth prayer walk: Come away from the hectic and busy for some quiet, prayerful moments with God: Join us Mondays from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm; or Wednesdays, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.
  • Taizé prayer service: Every Wednesday at 7pm, in the Chapel. The hour-long service includes sung, spoken, and silent prayers, beautiful music, a time of silence, and opportunity for individual prayer. Join us after the service on Wednesday, January 30, for Celebrations.

“Vision for the East End: Faith in a Changing Neighborhood”

The Rev. Randall K. Bush will be a guest speaker at Congregation Rodef Shalom. Rev. Bush will speak at Rodef’s 5:30 pm Shabbat evening worship service, one of a series of speakers that Rodef has invited from Pittsburgh’s East End to discuss and their vision for our larger community. The service includes music, prayer, and a d’var Torah (short sermon). This service is followed by an Oneg Shabbat. Location: Rodef Shalom’s Levy Hall. View this event on Rodef Shalom’s website

Kelley Hunt returns for a Blues Concert to benefit Hope Academy of Music and the Arts. Join us Friday, February 1 at 8:00 pm at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Avenue (across the street from East Liberty Presbyterian Church) This family-friendly event features singer/songwriter/piano player Kelley Hunt and her band laying down some blues-heavy R&B tunes with passion and soul. Join us for Engaged Spirituality: Exploring the Connection Between Mission and Spirituality, with Judy Menk. What do you think of when you hear the word “spirituality?” Judy, an ELPC Elder, will guide us through an exploration of the connection between mission and spirituality, of this life-giving and self-giving, twofold journey on Sunday, Feb 3 at 12:15 pm. Food pantryEast End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Food Pantry
The EECM Food Pantry provides food for individuals and families facing hunger in Pittsburgh. January’s “Food of the Month” is Rice-a-Roni.

East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) Men’s Shelter
During the winter months, the Deacons are collecting warm socks, hats, scarves, and gloves for EECM’s Men’s Shelter. Donations may be left in the hallway baskets. Thank you for your support!
