SUMMARY:Food for Thought Mentoring
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to announce the pilot of Food for Thought\, a new no-cost learning support and enrichment program for 4th through 8th graders which is aimed to equip and encourage children and youth through the exploration and enjoyment of food.   This one-on-one mentoring program will reinforce skills known to be necessary for success in and out of school.  The central theme of food and thinking will come to life in one-on-one mentoring relationships. \nTogether mentors and mentees will … \n\nshare healthy and delicious meals.\ntake cooking classes with professional chefs.\nparticipate in creating real solutions for hunger\, health\, and sustainable agriculture .\nlearn about the food we eat.\ninvestigate how different cultures around the world eat\, extend hospitably and show gratitude.\nbuild meaningful relationships that support them during the joys and the struggles of life.\n\nFor more information about how your child can participate in Food for Thought during the spring 8 week pilot program and/or our full year program beginning fall 2014 please talk to Sara Hackett at 412.673.2926. \nIf you are interested in becoming an adult mentor contact Wil Forrest at  412.260.2554. \nletter to families\nmentee application

DESCRIPTION:Calling all musicians\, singers\, rappers\, poets and writers\, ages 12-18! \nYoung musicians and writers will have the opportunity to collaborate and create with each other under the direction of three of Pittsburgh’s most accomplished and talented artists. Vocalist and Hope Academy teaching artist\, Anqwenique Wingfield; pianist  and composer Dr. Alton Merrell; and literary artist\, Yona Harvey\, are hosting the NO BOUNDaries Young Artist Workshop at East Liberty Presbyterian Church\, in partnership with Hope Academy of Music and the Arts.
