SUMMARY:High School Mission Trip to Hampden\, WV
DESCRIPTION:Join current 8th-12th grade students as we serve with West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps whose mission is to offer the opportunity for discipleship by partnering with those in need whose lives have been devastated by natural disasters or by the disaster of poverty. We will serve in Hampden\, West Virginia\, located on the steeps of Horsepen Mountain is a very remote location.  It is situated just yards from the entrance to a working coal mine. Volunteers serving here have the opportunity to take a step into West Virginia culture. \nThere are a number of required activities for the mission trip team members in the spring and early summer designed to build relationships between team members\, strengthen our service\, and deepen our experience. DESCRIPTION:Come one\, come all to this annual event where our ELPC family and community celebrate the many blessings in our lives with fellowship and a turkey luncheon with all the trimmings! \nConsider Volunteering\nWe need about 50 volunteers to ensure this event not only successfully feeds ELPC friends and members\, but also warmly welcomes members of our community. If you’re willing and able to help\, sign up in the hallway near the front desk to either set up (9:45–11:45 am) or clean up (1–3 pm). \nBring a side or Dessert\nYou also can sign up to bring side dishes and desserts. All dishes should be labeled with your name. There is no need to bring serving utensils. A signup sheet will be available on the bulletin board near the Highland Ave. entrance beginning on Sunday\, November 4.

DESCRIPTION:Food 4 Thought is a one-on-one mentoring program for students in grades 6–8\, which meets on Thursdays\, 4:30–6:30 pm. This learning support and enrichment program reinforces skills that are known to be necessary for success in and out of school through sharing meals\, cooking together\, doing homework\, and enjoying a variety of fun activities. Ashley Amber Birt\, narrators will remind us of how Christ’s birth drew unlikely people together in joy and hope. Today\, our celebration of Christ’s birth draws us together too\, reminding us of the beauty of our diversity and the unity we have in Christ. \nNotes: There will be a dress rehearsal for all participants on Saturday\, December 8\, 9:30–11 am\, followed by a Christmas party for the children who are participating. If a student cannot attend rehearsal\, but will be here for the pageant\, they are most welcome! Just let your student’s Church School teacher know.
