SUMMARY:Facing Systemic Racism: Acknowledging White Privilege
DESCRIPTION:What do you take into consideration when moving into a new community? How and how much are people of your own heritage portrayed in media and entertainment? What authors do you read? What do your children learn in history classes? How do you decide where and when to shop? Aside from theology\, what do you consider when selecting a worship community? What are three things that you want your children and grandchildren to know when they leave the house? What is your experience with community policing? \nHow you answer these questions may say more than you think about your racial heritage and experience. Join us as we continue to explore racism as seen through the eyes of privilege. \nWe will share a potluck meal in the Social Hall at 5:30 pm. The program will run from 6–8 pm. Childcare can be reserved by calling 412.441.3800 x140.

DESCRIPTION:Thanks to the renovation\, we have replaced or rediscovered many pieces of furniture which we no longer need or can use. But just in case someone might be able to use them\, we are going to be having a Social Hall Garage “Sale” on Saturday and Sunday\, July 8 and 9. These pieces will be brought to the Social Hall stage area for you to look and adopt. Everything is free to a good home\, although there will be a place for you to leave a donation if you so desire. It will be your responsibility to take the pieces you choose and transport them immediately. \nFor questions or more info\, please call Paul Martin at 412.441.3800 x131.

SUMMARY:RCC Pride Concert
DESCRIPTION:Renaissance City Choir (RCC)\, Western Pennsylvania’s only LGBTQA (Lesbian\, Gay\, Bisexual\, Transgender\, Queer\, and Allies) choral group\, will be at ELPC to present their 2018 Pride Concert\, Joined by Heart: Love Will Always Win! \nTogether nothing is impossible. Communities throughout time have realized that by coming together they can change the world. As we walk through our day\, or sing through our concert\, or march the streets of our city\, we must remember the power that we have when we are joined by heart. With this concert\, we especially honor our transgender\, gender-queer\, gender non-binary\, and two-spirit family members\, who help to teach us that there are more colors in our crayon box than just pink and blue. Love will always win against hate and fear. \nTickets will be available at the door or at RCCPittsburgh.com. A sign language interpreter will be present. \nIf the weather is rainy\, the performance will take place in the Social Hall. \n\nThe choir is an Artist in Residence at ELPC\, where they rehearse and perform. RCC affirms and celebrates LGBTQ+ identity through the unifying power of music. \n
