SUMMARY:April Fool’s Paradise Yoga Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Don’t miss a wonderful way to spend April Fool’s Day\, Saturday\, April 1. Attend a yoga retreat\, 9 am–2 pm\, with Yamuna Morgenstern\, which promises to nourish your body\, mind\, and spirit! The retreat will provide opportunities for yoga; pranayama (breath work for meditation); time for reflection where participants might walk the labyrinth\, journal\, or draw; a catered lunch together; and experiencing kirtan. \nKirtan is an ancient practice of call and response chanting in Sanskrit. People who only wish to experience kirtan are welcome to attend from 1–2 pm\, free of charge. \nPlease bring your own mat (or two)\, a yoga block if you have one\, your own blanket for savasana and meditation and a water bottle. \nSports are limited to 15 participants. The suggested donation is $35–$70\, which includes lunch. Scholarships are available. For details\, contact Pastor BJ. \nRegister Online

SUMMARY:ELPC Matters: The More You Know
DESCRIPTION:As we navigate this season of transition together\, ELPC is offering a series of informational sessions to broaden congregational awareness of different aspects of our life together that may seem to be more behind-the-scenes\, but which are fundamental to how we engage our faith in community together. \nTopics will address Frequently Asked Questions about church life and operations—starting first with topics that seem to be particularly confusing or anxiety producing in times of pastoral transition. \nOur first session in this series will be held on Sunday\, April 2\, during the Church School hour\, 9:45–10:45 am\, and will shed light on Understanding Pastor’s Compensation. The Rev. Brian Wallace\, associate minister and acting head of staff at Pittsburgh Presbytery\, will present this session\, along with the leadership of our Human Resources chairs and director of Administration and Finance. Participants can join in person in the Social Hall or on Zoom. \nFuture Sessions will be publicized in the weekly news flashes and Reaching Out\, and will cover topics such as: Understanding Our Endowment\, Who’s Who on Our Staff\, Finding Ourselves in ELPC’s History as We Envision the Future\, and What Does it Take to Care for the Cathedral of Hope? Sessions will be scheduled at different times to accommodate varying needs of our church family\, and—when able—will be recorded. \nFor more information or to share a topic you’d like to explore further\, please contact Pastor Patrice\, Pastor Heather\, or Pastor BJ with your thoughts. \nClick the button below to join via Zoom. If you’d like to join by telephone\, call 929.205.6099 and enter Meeting ID 188 135 194 when prompted (press # if asked for a personal ID). \nJoin via Zoom

SUMMARY:ELPC Matters: The More You Know About Times\, Cycles and Seasons of Transition
DESCRIPTION:As we journey through this time of transition at ELPC\, it is important to know that the changes and transitions we are going through are normal and even good and healthy. In fact\, all organisms and organizations go through periods and cycles of life and death\, fruitfulness\, and dormancy—and even Jesus says death and letting go are necessary for new life to come. This is often difficult for humans and organizations who operate out of a more mechanistic mindset. So how can we can navigate these seasons with energy\, intelligence\, imagination\, and love amidst the change and feelings of instability? It is our hope and belief that this transition can propel us to revitalize\, renew and redevelop for the hopeful and vibrant future at ELPC. \nJoin Pastor BJ on Sunday\, April 30\, 9:45–10:45 am\, in the Social Hall for a time of teaching\, reflection\, and conversation as we seek to navigate this time at ELPC together.
