SUMMARY:Epiphany Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Epiphany is a season where we celebrate and remind ourselves that God is a God who speaks\, communicates\, reveals\, and shines light into darkness. God desires to be known and to know us as children. On this retreat in the season of Epiphany\, we will reflect together on four ways in which God can communicate\, speak\, and reveal God’s Self to us\, the ways in which direction\, guidance\, wisdom come to us. \nTogether\, from Friday–Sunday\, January 31–February 2\, at the Villa Maria Retreat Center in Pulaski\, Pennsylvania\, we will explore\, ponder and experience how God communicates\, reveals and gives “epiphanies” to us: 1) within us\, in our souls and spirits\, 2) in the natural world of creation\, 3) in the written words of scripture\, and 4) through other people and the community. Join us for a time of solitude\, silence\, community\, rest\, prayer and discovery. \nPlease RSVP to Norma Meyer at 412.441.3800 x211 by Sunday\, January 19. \nCosts Options (Contact Pastor BJ to discuss scholarships) \n\nOne Day: Saturday only @ $25\nOne Night: Friday–Saturday or Saturday–Sunday | Shared Bath @ $85\nOne Night: Friday–Saturday or Saturday–Sunday | Private Bath @ $100\nTwo Nights: Friday–Sunday | Shared Bath @ $120\nTwo Nights: Friday–Sunday | Private Bath @ $155

SUMMARY:Environmental Team Book Study: The Great Displacement
DESCRIPTION:The Environmental Team of the Justice Committee invites you to read The Great Displacement: Climate Change and the Next American Migration by Jake Bittle\, and then join a book discussion on Thursday\, February 20\, 7 pm\, with the group on Zoom. \nEven as climate change dominates the headlines\, many of us still think about it in the future tense—we imagine that as global warming worsens over the coming decades\, millions of people will scatter around the world\, fleeing famine and rising seas. What we often don’t realize is that the consequences of climate change are already visible\, right here in the U.S. In communities across the country\, climate disasters are pushing thousands of people away from their homes. \nJake Bittle\, a journalist who covers climate change and energy\, gives us a human-based narrative of national scope. Stories of fires\, excessive rain\, scorched farmland\, etc. \nFor more information and the Zoom link\, contact Nancy Heastings.
