SUMMARY:Facing Systemic Racism: Acknowledging White Privilege
DESCRIPTION:What do you take into consideration when moving into a new community? How and how much are people of your own heritage portrayed in media and entertainment? What authors do you read? What do your children learn in history classes? How do you decide where and when to shop? Aside from theology\, what do you consider when selecting a worship community? What are three things that you want your children and grandchildren to know when they leave the house? What is your experience with community policing? \nHow you answer these questions may say more than you think about your racial heritage and experience. Join us as we continue to explore racism as seen through the eyes of privilege. \nWe will share a potluck meal in the Social Hall at 5:30 pm. The program will run from 6–8 pm. Childcare can be reserved by calling 412.441.3800 x140.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Sanctuary on Sunday\, December 9\, 10 am\, as the children of our church tell and enact the Christmas story. Written once again by the Rev. Today\, our celebration of Christ’s birth draws us together too\, reminding us of the beauty of our diversity and the unity we have in Christ. \nNotes: There will be a dress rehearsal for all participants on Saturday\, December 8\, 9:30–11 am\, followed by a Christmas party for the children who are participating. If a student cannot attend rehearsal\, but will be here for the pageant\, they are most welcome! Just let your student’s Church School teacher know.

SUMMARY:Young Children’s Ministry Potluck
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a child age three or under in your family or household? Are you looking for a chance to connect with other families with little kids? Do you want to learn or share tips for navigating church and naptime\, introducing little kids to Bible stories and table grace\, and answering the string of questions that emerge when your young toddler starts to ask “Why?” \nJoin us for a potluck dinner for families on Saturday\, February 2\, 4:30–7 pm. This will be an informal time to get to know other families of young children at ELPC\, share a meal\, and talk about what ELPC offers (or could offer!) for young children and their families. We’ll gather in the Nursery Suite so that there is plenty for kids to play with\, and we’ll have activities planned for older siblings. \nELPC will provide spaghetti\, and families are asked to bring a side or salad to share. (But if bringing a side dish is too difficult with everyone and everything else you are bringing\, please just bring yourselves! We get it!) \nPlease RSVP to Gloria Knopp at 412.441.3800 x122 by Sunday\, January 27.
