What are three things that you want your children and grandchildren to know when they leave the house? What is your experience with community policing? \nHow you answer these questions may say more than you think about your racial heritage and experience. Join us as we continue to explore racism as seen through the eyes of privilege. \nWe will share a potluck meal in the Social Hall at 5:30 pm. The program will run from 6–8 pm. DESCRIPTION:Do you have a child age three or under in your family or household? Are you looking for a chance to connect with other families with little kids? DESCRIPTION:Pittsburgh Public Theater’s 25th annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest\, that began with more than 1\,000 students\, has winnowed down the field to 38 students who will perform in the finals at 7 p.m. on Monday\, Feb 18. \nHope Academy students performed 30 monologues and 5 scenes during the preliminary rounds on Monday\, February 11 and Thursday\, February 14. Of this group\, three students were selected as finalists for their monologue (Burke Keener as Malvolio from Twelfth Night) and scene (Zaida Collins as Juliet and Madeleine Mocker as the Nurse from Romeo and Juliet). \nThe Showcase of Finalists is FREE and open to the public. It is a great evening of theater and a nice way to cheer on and support not only Hope Academy students but all of the young artists\, from all over the tri-state area\, who competed in the contest. We will have a big cheering section and hope you can join us. \n				\n \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Spiritual Life Committee continues to look at how our spiritual practices build resiliency—an attribute so needed in our world. Join us after Sanctuary worship as poet\, essayist\, teacher\, and ELPC member Emily Mohn-Slate encourages us to use writing as a way of getting in touch with and expressing our spirituality. \nNo writing experience is necessary. It is about prayer\, not product. But it is St. Patrick’s Day\, so an Irish-themed lunch will be served! \n\nAbout Emily Mohn-Slate\nEmily Mohn-Slate is a poet\, essayist and teacher. She is the author of FEED\, co-winner of the Keystone Chapbook Prize and published by from Seven Kitchens Press (2019). Her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize\, the Best of the Net Anthology\, and highly commended in the Gregory O’Donoghue International Poetry Prize competition (Ireland). \nShe’s a graduate of the Bennington Writing Seminars (MFA)\, Boston University (MA)\, and Colgate University (BA).
