DESCRIPTION:Hope Academy families are invited to a chamber music concert featuring BROOKLYN RIDER. Tickets have been generously donated to us by our partner\, Chamber Music Pittsburgh. This performance is recommended for students whose attention span and behavior is equivalent to an 8 year old .Please read about the performance\, so that you know what to expect; and the etiquette guidelines\, so that you understand the expectations; then RSVP  by Monday\, December 23 at 12 noon. \nHailed as “the future of chamber music” (Strings)\, the veteran string quartet Brooklyn Rider presents eclectic repertoire and gripping performances that continue to draw rave reviews from classical\, world\, and rock critics alike. NPR credits Brooklyn Rider with “recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st-century ensemble.” \n“They are four classical musicians performing with the energy of young rock stars jamming on their guitars\, a Beethoven-goes-indie foray into making classical music accessible but also celebrating why it was good in the first place.” – Pittsburgh Post-Gazette \nThe program is entitled “Healing Modes”\, and is a project inspired by the healing properties of music\, which have been recognized from ancient Greek civilization to the field of modern neuroscience and expressed in countless global traditions. \nPROGRAM\nCaroline Shaw: Schisma\nGabriela Lena Frank: Kanto Kechua #2\nDu Yun: i am my own achilles’ heel\nMatana Roberts: borderlands…\nReena Esmail: Zeher (Poison)\nBeethoven: Quartet No. 15 in A minor\, Op. 132 \nTo RSVP\, click HERE \n \n  \nHOW TO BE A GOOD AUDIENCE MEMBER \nIt is important that audience members remain quiet during the performance. Since music is mostly a listening activity\, any extra sounds that are not part of the music can get in the way and will distract and disturb the musicians and other audience members. \nBefore the Concert \nWear something you might wear to a special event – because it is!.\nPlease don’t wear anything that might be distracting (light up shoes\, clanging jewelry\, etc)\nArrive no later than 7:00 pm to get your tickets. \nBefore You Take Your Seat \nTake care of all rest room needs\nLeave all food\, drink\, and gum outside\, in the lobby.\nLeave all cameras and recording devices outside\, as well.\nThere are strict copyright guidelines about recording concerts.Turn off all cell phones\, pagers\, ipads\, watch sounds\, alarms\, or anything that might make a noise.\nThe only sounds that should be heard are the ones that appear in the musical score (and the audience reaction after the music). \nOnce You Take Your Seat \nA parent or guardian must sit next to each child.\nRemain seated and quiet while the musicians are playing.\nDo not get up during the concert or change seats.\nNo talking\, whispering\, sighing\, tapping or kicking feet\, or rattling of programs or papers.\nBe sure to sit without fidgeting so you don’t distract your neighbors or the performers on stage.\nFeel free to leave during intermission\, if this is a late night for your children; and if they fall asleep during the concert\, that’s okay too. This should be an enjoyable experience for them\, and you!
