DESCRIPTION:Hope Academy families are invited to a live\, in-person chamber music concert featuring SPHINX VIRTUOSI on MON Oct 11\, 2021 at Carnegie Music Hall. Tickets have been generously donated to us by our partner\, Chamber Music Pittsburgh. This live performance is recommended for vaccinated students and their families Please read about the performance\, so that you know what to expect; and the etiquette guidelines\, so that you understand the expectations. Then let your teaching artist know how many people in your family would like to attend so that we can reserve tickets for you. There will also be a virtual watch party of the concert on Monday\, October 18; we will email our music students details about the watch party next week. \n\nThe Sphinx Virtuosi are the nation’s most dynamic\, exhilarating professional chamber orchestra\, dedicated to increasing racial and ethnic diversity in classical music. Comprised of eighteen of the nation’s top Black and Latinx classical soloists\, the Virtuosi are primarily alumni of the internationally renowned Sphinx Competition\, and its members work together as cultural ambassadors reaching new audiences. \n\nPROGRAM\nXavier Foley Ev’ry Voice\nFlorence Price String Quartet No. 2 in A minor\nII. Finale furioso \n \nHOW TO BE A GOOD AUDIENCE MEMBER \nIt is important that audience members remain quiet during the performance. Since music is mostly a listening activity\, any extra sounds that are not part of the music can get in the way and will distract and disturb the musicians and other audience members. \nBefore the Concert \nWear something you might wear to a special event – because it is!.\nPlease don’t wear anything that might be distracting (light up shoes\, clanging jewelry\, etc)\nArrive no later than 7:00 pm to get your tickets. \nBefore You Take Your Seat \nTake care of all rest room needs\nLeave all food\, drink\, and gum outside\, in the lobby.\nLeave all cameras and recording devices outside\, as well.\nThere are strict copyright guidelines about recording concerts.Turn off all cell phones\, pagers\, ipads\, watch sounds\, alarms\, or anything that might make a noise.\nThe only sounds that should be heard are the ones that appear in the musical score (and the audience reaction after the music). \nOnce You Take Your Seat \nA parent or guardian must sit next to each child.\nRemain seated and quiet while the musicians are playing.\nDo not get up during the concert or change seats.\nNo talking\, whispering\, sighing\, tapping or kicking feet\, or rattling of programs or papers.\nBe sure to sit without fidgeting so you don’t distract your neighbors or the performers on stage.\nFeel free to leave during intermission\, if this is a late night for your children; and if they fall asleep during the concert\, that’s okay too. This should be an enjoyable experience for them\, and you!
