SUMMARY:PW Winter Retreat
DESCRIPTION:How do we live compassionately in a time of violence and despair? What can we do with our own disappointments and anger over an unjust world? Prophetic voices can help us live faithfully today. \nPresbyterian Women invites you to our Winter Retreat\, Responding Compassionately to a Hurting World\, Friday–Saturday\, March 6–7\, at Crestfied Camp and Conference Center in Slippery Rock. Rev. Sarah Robbins will lead us in a deep dive into the wisdom of prophets whose anger and lament was transformed into compassion as a mature response to evil. Through prayer\, discussion\, exercises and guided reflection\, we will practice ways to respond faithfully to an unjust world. Richard Rohr’s new book\, The Tears of Things\, provides guidance and a basis for our conversation. \nOur overnight retreat will begin with dinner on Friday\, 6 pm\, and conclude mid-afternoon on Saturday. We will make a joyful noise with singing and worship. We will renew ourselves through play and rest. \nRegistration is full at this time. \nDownload Brochure

DESCRIPTION:Clean diapers are a basic need of every infant and toddler. Yet\, one in three families cannot afford enough diapers to keep their child clean\, dry\, and healthy. three in five parents miss work or school because they can’t afford the diapers required to leave their baby in childcare. \nThe Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank\, wpadiaperbank.org\, has been helping families meet diaper needs for more than a decade. Last year\, the Diaper Bank provided over two million diapers to families in Allegheny\, Washington\, and Westmoreland counties through 53 partner agencies. ELPC members and friends have generously supported this ministry for many years. \nPresbyterian Women will host a Diaper Drive at the Highland Ave. entrance following worship on Sunday\, July 30\, until 12:30 pm. Donations also may be dropped off in the laundry basket at the Highland Ave entrance. Diaper sizes 5 and 6 are most needed. Financial gifts also are welcomed. SUMMARY:New PW Bible Study & Virtual Lunch
DESCRIPTION:How can we faithfully respond to difficult situations in the world? The ancients lamented to God\, often in very explicit language. The lamenter finds strength to face the world as she remembers God\, confident in the hope that God’s reign is coming. Prayers of lament are expressed in words\, music\, or art. \nAll women are invited to join us for Reclaiming Lament (introduction and virtual lunch) on Tuesday\, August 18\, 12 pm. Our first lesson\, Heart of Lament\, will begin on Monday\, September 14\, 7 pm\, or Tuesday\, September 15\, 10 am. Lessons will then continue on the first Monday and Tuesday of every month\, along with a mid-Month virtual lunch to share laments in writing\, art\, or music. \nWe hope you will join us as we begin to explore this ancient form of prayer and protest. For more information or to ask questions\, please email PW.ELPC@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Presbyterian Women Fall Social
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a fun way to start the fall season? Presbyterian Women has just the thing for you! All women and girls—especially mother and daughter pairs of all ages—are invited to our fall social. Our theme will be: Celebrating the Stages of Women from Diapers to Golden Years. \nThere will be prizes for the youngest baby and the oldest mother\, and more games and prizes will brighten the afternoon. One highlight will be a tableau of well-known women of the Bible in colorful costumes. The actresses will provide interesting information about how each woman witnessed to God in her time. \nTasty refreshments will be available and potluck donations of salads\, snacks\, and desserts will be most welcome. Everyone will have an opportunity to contribute to PW’s on-going mission projects\, the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank and Living-in-Liberty\, by donating a package of diapers\, feminine care products\, or adult incontinence products.
