DESCRIPTION:This week\, we welcome the Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett\, executive director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA)\, as our guest preacher. The Rev. Dr. Moffett most recently served as pastor at St. James Presbyterian Church in Greensboro\, North Carolina. \nThe largest of the six program agencies of the Presbyterian Church (USA)\, the PMA works to equip and connect the church in areas of evangelism and leader formation\, as well as justice and reconciliation. They are involved in world mission\, in racial equity initiatives\, women and intercultural ministries\, and a host of other programs. \n\nThis service is held in the Sanctuary on the first floor\, with an organ prelude before the service. We extend a warm welcome to our Latino friends and include several prayers in our service bulletin in English and Spanish. DESCRIPTION:Pentecost is the annual event in which we celebrate the birth of the early Christian church by remembering how the Holy Spirit inspired the first disciples. We wear red as a symbol of the fire that touched women and men that day and re-commit ourselves to sharing the good news of Christ. \nThis year\, Pentecost Sunday\, May 20\, is extra-special\, because we will confirm a group of young people and celebrate the final stage of our year-long building renovation project. The bulk of the work is finally done! While final tests and touch-ups are completed\, we will celebrate the excellent renovations and improvements through special words\, music\, and events. SUMMARY:Christmas Eve Sanctuary Worship
DESCRIPTION:This service is held in the Sanctuary on the first floor\, with an organ prelude before the service. We extend a warm welcome to our Latino friends and include several prayers in our service bulletin in English and Spanish. This is ELPC’s largest service\, offering a traditional worship service with thought-provoking sermons\, and the music of our Chancel Choir and organ to reinforce the spirit of praise and reverence. Like many of the great cathedrals of Europe\, the compelling power and beauty of our historic\, gothic-style Sanctuary enhances the spiritual experience. Children are invited to the chancel steps to hear their own message with one of the pastors. The service is led by ELPC’s senior pastor or other members of the pastoral staff. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Taizé service on All Saints’ Day as we remember all of the people in our lives who are no longer with us. \nOur All Saints’ Procession will begin and end in the Chapel\, but will include moving through the Narthex and Sanctuary before gathering in the Trinity Chapel to sing and pray by candlelight. Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this moving service of remembrance and hope. \n\nELPC offers evening prayers with chants from Taizé every Wednesday at 7 pm\, in the Chapel. The hour-long service includes sung prayers\, beautiful music\, a time of silence\, spoken and silent prayers\, and opportunities for individual prayer and anointing.
