Originally a refuge during the war\, Taizé has developed into an ecumenical prayer center for visitors from all over the world. Today\, the Taizé community is made up of over a hundred resident brothers\, both Catholics and from various Protestant backgrounds/traditions. Taizé wants to be a sign of reconciliation between divided Christians and between separated peoples.

DESCRIPTION:During the Christmas season\, we hold together a past story of God’s love incarnate with the present moment of our day—and our call to follow the Prince of Peace. Even in scripture\, the message of Jesus’ birth invites us to do some “time traveling”—through the words of many prophets\, the anointing of an unlikely king\, a family tree filled with surprising characters\, the appearance of angels\, and a long journey to Bethlehem. \nOn Sunday\, December 18\, 10 am\, kids of all ages will guide us in a re-telling of this special story that transcends time and space\, so that we might see that the babe born in a Bethlehem manger is also God-with-Us\, too. Once more\, our script has been written by the Rev. Ashley DeTar Birt. All participants should arrive by 9:30 am\, to get costumes on and prepare for the pageant. \nJoin us after the Pageant for a Hot Chocolate Reception in the McKelvey Room! Sign up to bring a breakfast bread to share (sliced and ready to serve) by emailing Sara Hackett. \nPageant Rehearsal \nPageant rehearsal will be held on Saturday\, December 17\, 9:30–11 am. Children should arrive between 9:30–10 am\, and go to their Church School classrooms to put on their costumes. Middle school youth should arrive at 9:30 am\, and report to the Sanctuary to practice their speaking parts.

Printed copies of the weekly bulletin and announcements are available\, or you may download a digital version for viewing on your mobile device or tablet. \nClick here to see details for this week’s worship services. \n\nAbout ELPC’s Sanctuary Worship Service\nOur Sanctuary worship service is our largest service\, offering a traditional worship experience with thought-provoking sermons and music from our Chancel Choir and organ to reinforce the spirit of praise and reverence. Like many of the great cathedrals of Europe\, the compelling power and beauty of our historic\, gothic-style Sanctuary enhances the spiritual experience. Children are invited to the chancel steps each Sunday to hear their own message with one of the pastors. The service is led by ELPC’s senior pastor or other members of the pastoral staff. Special guest pastors or speakers periodically lead the service.
