Our regular schedule resumes on Wed.\, July 11. \n\nDrawn from the ancient Christian contemplative tradition\, centering prayer is presented in an updated\, accessible four-step method. The Centering Prayer group aims to sit in silence for 20 minutes of prayer\, and supports its members in their ongoing practice of this transforming way of being with God. Centering Prayer is a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Christ. Attendance every week is not required–you are welcome to join us anytime. The group meets every Thursday evening throughout the year. \n

When African-American mogul Thaddeus Thomas (Harry Belafonte) wrongly accuses Caucasian Louis Pinnock (John Travolta) of being a Peeping Tom\, Pinnock loses his job and watches as his family falls apart. In a desperate attempt to repair his life\, Pinnock takes Thomas hostage and demands reinstatement at the factory where he The psychological effects of poverty are far-reaching\, and statistically\, women are more likely to feel the impact. Dominique\, Veniecia\, and Lou Ann lead vastly different lives\, yet their stories intersect and parallel in surprising ways. DESCRIPTION:Learn to play an instrument\, make beats\, sing\, rap\, write music and then put it all together into a performance. This camp is for aspiring young musicians\, from 9 to 17 years old\,  of all ability levels (even if you’ve never played an instrument or performed with a group before). \nThe camp runs from Monday–Saturday\, July 23–28 | 9 am–3 pm\, with a final performance on Saturday\, July 28 at 2:30 pm. \nInstruments: voice\, violin\, viola\, cello\, flute\, clarinet\, guitar\, bass\, marimba\, percussion and more. SUMMARY:Hip Hop Orchestra Summer Camp Performance 2018
DESCRIPTION:Hip Hop Orchestra Summer Camp\, at East Liberty Presbyterian Church\, is a week-long immersive music experience for young people\, ages 9 to 17\,  who want to write music\, make beats\, learn how to play an instrument (or play it better)\, while other students sing\, rap and dance. \nThe students and their teaching artists will present their final performance on Saturday\, July 28.  Doors open at 2:00 pm for the 2:30 pm performance. \nPlease enter on the Whitfield side of the building\, across the street from the Ace Hotel and the East Liberty Branch of the Carnegie Library. The performance will take place in the Social Hall in the basement of the church building. \nPresented by Guardians Of Sound.

Join us in the Social Hall following worship to view the movies\, discuss the themes\, and enjoy lunch together. \nThis week’s feature\, The Canary Effect\, is a 2006 documentary that looks into the effects that the U.S. and its policies have on the Indigenous peoples (Native Americans). Delving deeply into the historic realities of the American Indian\, this film details the genocidal practices of our government and its effects on present-day Indian country. Featuring interviews with the leading scholars and experts on Indian issues\, the film brings together the past and present in a way never before captured so eloquently and boldly on film. \n1 hour | Hosted by the Mission Board
