Using paint markers on a graffiti wall\, Max will work with young people and their grownups to create art that lets them experience what it’s like to work together to make something bigger than they could have made on their own. There will also be an be an artist talk for adults at 10:15 am and book readings for young people at 9:30 and 11:45 am \nAbout the Artist: Max Gonzales\nMax Emiliano Gonzales\, also known by his artist name GEMS\, is an activist\, art educator\, muralist\, printmaker\, and curator. Originally from the Southwest side of Chicago and raised in Latino communities\, he brings a unique perspective to Pittsburgh as a queer identifying Chicano artist. Max has lectured and facilitated workshops at The University of Pittsburgh\, Winchester Thurston\, Youth Places\, Assemble\, and The Environmental Charter School\, and is a member of Boom Concepts\, Flower House Gallery\, Wicked Pittsburgh and Pullproof Studios. Max believes in a teaching approach that removes barriers of elitism and inaccessibility\, that values and empowers underrepresented voices\, movements\, and art forms in order illuminate how community voice has great significance. \nAbout The Art of Justice!\nLearn how artists are using art for social change and how their literary inspirations have guided their creative practice: make work alongside them to express yourself and share your vision for a just and equitable world. #artofjustice #remakelearning \nThree artists\, Alisha Wormsley\, Max Gonzales and Darrell Kinsel will work with us on artmaking projects connected to literature\, based on social justice themes. DESCRIPTION:Qigong is canceled today\, January 31. We will resume our regular schedule next Thursday. \n\nQigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures\, breathing techniques and focused intention. The word Qigong (Chi Kung) is made up of two Chinese words. “Qi” is pronounced “chee” and is usually translated to mean the life force or vital-energy that flows through all things in the universe. “Gong” is pronounced “gung” and means accomplishment\, or skill that is cultivated through steady practice. Together\, Qigong (Chi Kung) means cultivating energy\, it is a contemplative system practiced for health maintenance\, healing and increasing vitality. \nLinda Harrington will lead half hour of Qigong on Thursdays\, 6:30 pm\, in the Prayer and Meditation Room before Mindfulness Meditation. Beginners are always welcome!

In this ongoing practice\, we’ll explore and deepen our experience of mindfulness. Our weekly time together will include meditation instruction\, guided meditations\, and practices for supporting mindfulness in everyday life. \nBoth those who are new to meditation and those with meditation experience are heartily welcome.

SUMMARY:Chancel Choir Rehearsal
DESCRIPTION:Rehearsal is canceled today\, January 31\, due to weather. \n\nThe Chancel Choir typically rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7–8:30 pm\, in the Sanctuary from September through early June. Sunday morning rehearsals are at 10:00 am\, in preparation for the worship service. The choir provides musical leadership at our Sanctuary worship service on Sundays. \nNo audition is required\, just the desire to learn and have fun as we prepare to lead worship. The choir is open to everyone in high school and older. \nDr. Ed Moore is the director of the Chancel Choir. \nCome join us and make a joyful noise!
