SUMMARY:First Week of Hope Academy's Winter Term
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, January 5 is the first day of theater\, music and dance classes and private lessons at Hope Academy. \nMost classes are full and we will not be accepting walk in registrations on Saturday. We do have openings in Wednesday evening Flute Choir\, and Saturday morning Music Discovery (for 5 and 6 year olds). \nCLASSES: If you are interested in getting on the wait list for any of our other classes\, you can email HopeAcademyArts@gmail.com. \nPRIVATE LESSONS: Some of our teaching artists are opening up additional days for private instrument and voice lessons\, so If you are a new student\, interested in private music lessons\, fill out this private lesson inquiry form and we will get back to you. DESCRIPTION:HAT Co (Hope Academy’s Teen Theater Company) is performing at this year’s 7th Annual East Liberty Celebrates MLK event at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater. Enjoy family-friendly\, MLK-themed activities beginning at 12 noon and stay for performances by HAT Co band and other local groups from 2 to 4 pm. \nOther performers include: 1Hood Media; Tameka Cage Conley; Trevor C. Dance Company; Dreams of Hope; Hope Academy teaching artist\, Anthony Williams; and ATC. Our friend Darrell Kinsel will emcee. \nPay What Makes You Happy! Tickets for this event are available at any price. Simply choose the level that makes you happy—or name your own! All seats are general admission. The doors to the house will open at 1:15 pm for the performances. SUMMARY:HAT Co Performs at Summit Against Racism
DESCRIPTION:HAT Co (Hope Academy’s Teen Theater Company) singers and band will open and perform for the 18th Annual Summit Against Racism. \nJoin us for the 18th Summit Against Racism\, at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary hosted this year by the Metro-Urban Institute and the Black and White Reunion. The conference will provide a forum for discussion about the current state of race relations in the U.S.\, what we have learned so far\, and pathways to deeper understanding\, healing and social action. \nThere is a wide range of workshops\, panel discussions and conversations that take place in three blocks throughout the day. \nOnline registration is open until Wednesday\, January 20. You can also register at the door\, the day of the event. \nYou will need to be there early to see Hope Academy students perform beginning at 8:20 am.
