Summer Film Series: A Justice that Heals

The Neighbors, Justice, and Peace Committees of the Mission Board are teaming up to sponsor our fifth annual Summer Film Series. Films will be shown after our Summer worship service, along with a light potluck lunch in the Social Hall. A Justice that Heals is a documentary that explores the aftermath of the senseless murder of 19-year-old Andrew Young by 18-year-old Mario Ramos. It was one of 90 homicides in Chicago that month and, in many ways, was nothing unusual.…

Help Prepare Dinner for Families

Four times a year, ELPC provides dinner for families involved with the Open Hand Ministries' Circles program. These families are working hard on improving their financial situation and reaching their goals. Consider helping them along the way by donating food and/or serving dinner. The ELPC Mission Board needs your help in supporting one of our local partners on one or both days. Open Door Housing—which provides affordable, safe, and supportive housing for individuals living with HIV—is rehabbing its 15-unit apartment complex on Pittsburgh’s North Side and has doors that need to be painted. This is your chance to literally brighten the day for a vulnerable and underserved population. For more information, call Michele Bossers at 412.303.9243.

Neighborhood Mission Opportunity

All are invited to join us on the first Saturday of every month to help Open Hand Ministries rehab an abandoned house into a quality, affordable home for a family. No special skills are needed and all ages are welcome. A typical a workday runs from 9 am–3 pm. Volunteers are able to work a partial day (3 hours), but must notify a volunteer coordinator. Church Life Sampler

Our annual Church Life Sampler will be held after our Sanctuary worship service. Come “sample” the various worship and service opportunities that ELPC offers. Meet leaders, ask questions, and jump on board! Lunch will be provided and a special activity will be available for children. This also is Visitor’s Sunday, so bring along friends and neighbors to visit ELPC and consider making our church part of their faith journey.
