Here’s a list of what’s happening this week in our Church School classes. We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays, 9:45–10:45 am, unless otherwise noted. Youth classes are currently meeting after our Sanctuary worship service. Read more about our adult classes and children and youth offerings.
Children & Youth
- What good gifts does your family give to each other? (Hugs? Help with chores? Laughter? Reading to each other? Playing games?)
- What gifts has God given to you?
- Jesus challenges us to treat others the way we want to be treated. What is one way you want other people to treat you?
- Imagine…if we all treated our neighbors in the way we wanted to be treated…what would the world be like?
We also are reading together Be Kind by Pat Zietlow Miller

High School | Grades 9–12
We will meet together on Zoom at 12:30 pm, to bake muffins and explore 1 Kings 19, where, after Elijah has had a terrible couple of months, an angel delivers some fresh baked bread, and tells him “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” Strengthened by that food, Elijah traveled 40 days until he reached the mountain of God.
Journey with Scripture
“Though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand.”—Psalm 37:24
Join us as we read “Year D” scripture texts selected by Pastor Randy to complement traditional lectionary readings. This month’s Hebrew and New Testament readings lay out, quite bare, the failed leadership and usurpations of power in Israel’s history—the deadly stumbling of leaders and misguided followers. Fortunately, the Psalms offer relief! An assurance of God’s presence through the recklessness and ignorance.
Join us for this week’s readings: Obadiah 11–18, 21; Psalm 56; 2 Thessalonians 1:5–12; and Luke 21:20–24, 34–38. Contact Sara Hackett for Zoom information.
Parenting Circle
Anyone involved in parenting (singles, couples, adoptive parents, step-parents, grandparents, guardians, mentors, etc.) is welcome to join us. We share experiences, resources, prayer, and scripture as we explore how our faith builds and nourishes our family lives, as well as nurtures our parent/child relationships. Join us as we learn from one another ways to foster closer family relationships in the context of creating active faith communities. Contact the Rev. Heather Schoenewolf for Zoom information.
Seekers
We’ll hear and discuss the experiences of those regarded as mystics of Christian history, and explore how to translate their experiences into our lives. Contact Gwen Puza for Zoom details.
Soul Food
We will begin discussing Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. If you’re interested in joining our class, email the Rev. Joe Hajdu.
