Here’s a list of what’s happening this week in our Church School classes. We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays, 9:45–10:45 am, unless otherwise noted. Youth classes are currently meeting after our Sanctuary worship service. Read more about our adult classes and children and youth offerings.
Children & Youth
We are exploring Romans 13:8–10, where Paul writes, “Whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law.”
After you read the Bible passage your family can discuss…
- In this Bible passage, Paul is writing to the church in Rome to tell them that while there are many different laws in the Bible, the laws are the same in that they help us love our neighbors. Jesus upset some people because he taught that God’s law of love was more important than any other laws made up by humans.
- Do you have rules in your house or at your school? How do the rules keep people stay safe and help you love and care for each other?
- “Love does no harm to a neighbor.” Paul writes in a different letter in the Bible that “Love is patient, love is kind. Love it is not proud. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” How would you describe love?
- Where do you feel love?

Journey with Scripture
“Though we stumble, we shall not fall headlong, for the Lord holds us by the hand.”—Psalm 37:24
Join us as we read “Year D” scripture texts selected by Pastor Randy to complement traditional lectionary readings. This month’s Hebrew and New Testament readings lay out, quite bare, the failed leadership and usurpations of power in Israel’s history—the deadly stumbling of leaders and misguided followers. Fortunately, the Psalms offer relief! An assurance of God’s presence through the recklessness and ignorance.
Join us for this week’s readings: Judges 9:7–15; Psalm 37:12–40; Ephesians 5:1–8; and Matthew 13:10–17. Contact Sara Hackett for Zoom information.
Parenting Circle
Anyone involved in parenting (singles, couples, adoptive parents, step-parents, grandparents, guardians, mentors, etc.) is welcome to join us. We share experiences, resources, prayer, and scripture as we explore how our faith builds and nourishes our family lives, as well as nurtures our parent/child relationships. Join us as we learn from one another ways to foster closer family relationships in the context of creating active faith communities. Contact the Rev. Heather Schoenewolf for Zoom information.
Seekers
Graham Standish will discuss the foundations of Christian mysticism—concepts such as faith, humility, surrender, living in the present moment, seeking divine union, prayer, discernment, and much more. Contact Gwen Puza for Zoom details.
Soul Food
We will discuss Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. If you’re interested in joining our class, email the Rev. Joe Hajdu.
