Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Reclaiming Our Spirit. The Rev. Tony Richardson-Eckes will preach from Ruth 1:5–21.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Heather will preach from Acts 8:26–40, and her sermon will be titled “Unexpected Grace.”
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, 7 pm
Led by the Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan, our hour-long Taizé service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | Harambe Room
Charles Nordquist will lead our discussion of the first three Beatitudes, Matthew 5:1–5.
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
“Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common”—Acts 4:32.
Jesus’ resurrection led initial followers to a new social imagination. Even today, we live in a Commonwealth (believe it or not). Join us for this and other Easter readings of a new life lived for common well-being.
Join us for this week’s readings: Acts 8:26–40; Psalm 22:25–31; 1 John 4:7–21; and John 15:1–8.
Seekers | Good Samaritan Room
Meeting Jesus the Christ Again | Part 2
Everyone is invited to attend our class as the Rev. Dr. Chesnut presents major thoughts from his book, Meeting Jesus the Christ Again. He will highlight some of the theological conflicts between evangelical and progressive Christians, and where he sees the possibility of reaching common ground. Bring your book to have it signed.
Soul Food | Third Floor Music Room
The Book of Joy by Douglas Abrams
We will discuss The Book of Joy, with the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu, led by Steve Evrard, Linda Harrington, Judy Roberts, and Katlyn Dougherty.
