Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, at 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Back on Track. Pastor Randy will preach from Leviticus 19.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, at 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Heather will preach from Matthew 7:7–11 and her sermon will be titled “Words from the Mount: Unanswered Questions.”
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, at 7 pm
Our hour-long service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. The Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan will lead this service of sung Taizé prayer. Stay afterward for Contemplative Prayer. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | Second Floor Parlor
Seeing Jesus in John’s Gospel: Tabernacle
The church has long looked at the descriptions and words of Jesus in the Gospel of John as a rich source of theological understanding. We will begin a six-week series with the metaphor of “tabernacle” to communicate the incarnation of God’s Word through the person of Jesus (John 1:1–18).
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
The apostle Paul writes, “But we have the mind of Christ” to the church in Corinth—a cosmopolitan, religiously pluralistic, socially competitive, market driven city. Hearts, minds, and bodies were likely pulled and shaped in many ways. Paul proclaims a different shaping and existence. This month’s scripture calls readers to new life. Come and be reshaped as we reflect on:
This week, our readings are Leviticus 19:1–2, 9–18; Psalm 119:33–40; 1 Corinthians 3:10–11, 16–23; and Matthew 5:38–48.
Seekers | Room 234
Little Known Amazing African History
The remarkable history of the diverse people on the African continent is typically not widely—nor correctly—shared. For instance, did you know there is strong evidence that Africans sailed across the Atlantic before Christopher Columbus?
Kimberly Gonxhe, director of the Metro-Urban Institute at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, will offer an in-depth, historical presentation about the culturally rich, vibrant, and innovative African people.
Soul Food | Third Floor Music Room
Joe Hajdu, Pam Napier-Barnes, and Linda Harrington will lead us as we begin our discussion of Week 2, “Knocking on the Door,” from Open the Door, by Joyce Rupp.
