Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Transformation. Pastor Heather will preach from Isaiah 60:1–6.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Randy will preach from Matthew 2:1-15 and his sermon will be titled “Darkness and Light.”
If you’re out of town and/or unable to join us for worship, follow us on Facebook to receive a notification when we go live so that you can watch this week’s sermon.
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, 7 pm
Led by the Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan, our hour-long Taizé service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | McKelvy Room
Faith and Personal Finances
What role does our Christian faith play in how we deal with money—our approach to living, giving, owing, and saving? Could we develop a more faith-filled relationship with our money? We will address the subject from both ends of the age spectrum—both young and old.
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
“The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news…”—Luke 4:18
Jesus’ public ministry begins with teaching in synagogues, places of faithfulness and memory. The synagogue of his youth is the place where his ministry first becomes interpreted. Through self-acceptance and self-disclosure Jesus “reads” the scripture from the scroll of Isaiah, words made flesh. Scripture reads Jesus and it also reads us. Join our class this Epiphany season and emerging New Year.
Join us for this week’s readings: Isaiah 60:1–6; Psalm 72:1–7,10–14; Ephesians 3:1–12; and Matthew 2:1–12.
Seekers | Garth Overlook Room
The Paradoxes of Peace in the Middle East
Over the past 100 years, the tension between the nation of Israel and the historical rights of Palestinian residents has been a persistent and paradoxical challenge for that part of the world. Pastor Randy will explore the range of historical and social issues that continue to make peace in Israel & Palestine such an elusive goal.
Soul Food | Good Samaritan Room (G12)
We will continue discussing selections from Meditations of the Heart, by Howard Thurman, led by the Rev. Joe Hajdu, Michele Bossers, and Steve Evrard.
