Pilgrimage into the Last Third of Life Part 2 of 2
Written from a spiritual point of view by a gerontologist and a retired pastor, this book looks at aspects of aging such as: living with limitations; doing inner “soul” work; living in and out of community, loss, and suffering; and leaving a legacy. Carolyn Russ, an elder law attorney and definitely in the last third of her life, will team up with Hollen Barmer, whose parents are in the last third of their lives. Together, they will explore what it’s like to already be there, and to deal with parents who are on their way. The book is available from Carolyn (attorney.russ@gmail.com) for $10. Read ahead!
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
“Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven.”—Psalm 32:1
Happiness consists of a willingness to share in God’s joy in dispensing salvation through forgiveness. A joint partnership with risk and rewards! To let go of hurts, to accept oneself, to love the lost, even reckless. Come join us this Lent to reflect on unbounded forgiveness and joy embodied.
Join us for this week’s readings: Genesis 15:1–12,17–18; Psalm 27; Philippians 3:17–4:1; and Luke 13:31–35.
Seekers | Garth Overlook Room
21st Century Challenges: Living Faithfully in a Global/National World
A recent book by Yuval Harari notes that three major challenges facing our world involve technological advances, nuclear weapons, and climate change. Do people of faith have answers to offer to these challenges? Should we think nationally or globally in our responses? Pastor Randy will lead a discussion of this important topic for our generation.
Soul Food | Good Samaritan Room (G12)
The Cry of the Earth
We will begin discussing selections from Spiritual Ecology: The Cry of the Earth, led by the Rev. Joe Hajdu, Michelle Yamada, and Shirley Fair.
Young Adults | Room 213
REgret, REalize, REassurance, REsurrection
All young adults are welcome to join us for a series examining these subjects within the Bible, our own faith journeys and experiences, and the world around us.
