Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, at 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Transformed. Pastor Randy will preach from John 14:1–7.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, at 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. This week, our Senior High youth will lead us during Sanctuary worship. This special service is an annual tradition at ELPC, as we celebrate the gifts of our youth, while praising God for the work of the Holy Spirit upon and through them. Our graduating seniors will share their faith stories, and receive a blessing as they prepare for the next steps in their respective life journeys.
Students completing third grade will be presented with a Bible as a gift from ELPC, so that they might be nurtured in God’s word.
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, at 7 pm
Led by the Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan, our hour-long Taizé service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. Stay afterward for Contemplative Prayer. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | Second Floor Parlor
The Confession of 1967: Reconciliation Responds to Grace Part 1
Paul Seif, MDiv, begins a two-week series on the Reformed Confessions: a Public Witness to Grace. In this session, we will observe how the Confession of 1967 reaffirms God’s heart for all God’s people in a season of dynamic social change—America in the 1960s.
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
Do not let your hearts be troubled…In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places.—John 14:1–2. In the risen Christ, followers hear of the assurance of eternal life so that they may be encouraged to patiently witness to the kingdom of God and the gospel—to journey in paths of justice, steadfast love, and faithfulness. Love crosses continents and careers to places unimagined. Join us as we reflect on Easter season scripture:
This week, our readings are: Acts 17:22–31; Psalm 66:8–20; I Peter 3:13–22; and John 14:15–21.
Seekers | Room 234
Our Place and Responsibility in Cosmic Evolution
Evolutionary philosopher Brian Swimme’s award-winning film, Journey of the Universe, tells of our living Earth, and the drama of the origins of life. He shows how we humans developed as the mind and heart of the universe, a partner to the sun and stars, and our responsibility to align our consciousness with the cosmic evolution. As Christians, we can ask how the hands of God worked/work in this drama.
Soul Food | Third Floor Music Room
We will discuss a meditation on dealing with pain and suffering by Richard Rohr, led by the Rev. Joe Hajdu, Vivienne Selia, and Steve Evrard.
Young Adults | Pastor’s Conference Room
Celebration and Prayer Time
Over breakfast, we will celebrate graduations and transitions, and then end with some group prayer time.
