Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Wisdom. Pastor Patrice will preach from Mark 13:1–8.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Randy will preach from Philemon 1–21, and his sermon will be titled “Big Themes, Little Books: The Cost of Freedom.”
If you’re out of town and/or unable to join us for worship, follow us on Facebook to receive a notification when we go live so that you can watch this week’s sermon.
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, 7 pm
Led by the Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan, our hour-long Taizé service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | Harambe Room
This week, we will join the Seekers class. See class description below.
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
“Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”—Revelation 4b–5
We seem to be awash in deceit or half-truths, and truth-seeking communities seem scarce as ideology rules. Yet our year’s readings end with deep wisdom and assurance by the One who is both trustworthy and just. One who comes in peace. Come join us as we listen for the Lord’s voice.
Join us for this week’s readings: 1 Samuel 1:4–20; 1 Samuel 2:1–10; Hebrews 10:11–25; and Mark 13:1–8.
Seekers | Garth Overlook Room
Irish Presbyterians and the Shaping of Western Pennsylvania, 1770–1830
Dr. Peter Gilmore will share his historical study examining the religious culture of Irish immigrants in the early years of the American nation. Despite fractious relations among competing sects, many of these immigrants shared a vision of a renewed Ireland in which their versions of Presbyterianism could flourish free from the domination of landlords and the established church. In the process, they created the institutional foundations for Western Pennsylvanian Presbyterian churches.
Soul Food | Good Samaritan Room (G12)
We will conclude our discussion of Surrender to Love by David Benner, led by the Rev. Joe Hajdu, Michelle Bard, and Yamuna Morgenstern.
