Worship Services
Journey Worship | Sunday, 8:45 am
An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is Re-Building. Pastor Randy will preach from Hebrews 4:12–16.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, 11 am
Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Randy will preach from Hebrews 4:12–16, and his sermon will be titled “Gracefully Telling Our Story.” We also will be celebrating Full Inclusion Sunday and the Renaissance City Choir will be with us.
If you’re out of town and/or unable to join us for worship, follow us on Facebook to receive a notification when we go live so that you can watch this week’s sermon.
Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, 7 pm
Led by the Rev. Mary Lynn Callahan, our hour-long Taizé service includes sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. If you’re unable to participate in person, join our live stream on your computer or mobile device.
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | McKelvy Room
Theology for Presbyterians: God
We worship a good and great Triune God who is involved in the world from creation to today. What does it mean to be created in the image of God?
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
“Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”—Job 42:3
Our readings continue exploring the wisdom tradition in scripture. After contending with friends and God through a period of extensive suffering, Job lets go of some traditional perceptions about God. Radical new images of God and a far richer multipolar world emerge. Likewise, our world passes away—the new can emerge. Join us on this journey.
Join us for this week’s readings: Job 23:1–9,16-17; Psalm 22:1–15; Hebrews 4:12–16; and Mark 10:17–31.
Seekers | Garth Overlook Room
Our Youth Work Among the Floods and Poverty
The high school mission trip team will be sharing pictures and stories from their mission trip with West Virginia Ministry of Advocacy and Workcamps. The team completed recovery work from the long-term devastation of floods and poverty. They will share what they learned about the coal mining area and how they saw God’s abundant hope and compassion at work.
Soul Food | Good Samaritan Room (G12)
We will begin discussing chapter three of Surrender to Love by David Benner, led by the Rev. Joe Hajdu, Judy Roberts, Michelle Yamada, and Sharla Yates.
