On the Edge of Night: NO BOUNDaries Project World Premier
October 11, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$12 – $15Hope Academy teaching artist, Anqwenique Wingfield, collaborated with Yona Harvey and Daniel Bernard Roumain to create “On the Edge of Night,” a five-movement song cycle for string trio, percussion, soprano and spoken word. Composed by Roumain, with libretto and spoken word by Harvey, this hauntingly beautiful piece is Wingfield’s vehicle to explore themes of grief, love, relationships and pushing artistic and creative boundaries. The performance will also feature dance and choreography by another Hope Academy teaching artist, Anthony Williams & Company.
A short documentary, filmed last spring at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, featuring teenagers interested in learning how to compose music and write lyrics, will also be shown. Hope Academy’s teen theater company students (HAT Co) are in the documentary.
Pre-show reception at 7 p.m. hosted by Café Con Leche, an organization which uses food to build community and promote Latino culture in Pittsburgh.
Funding for the NO BOUNDaries Project was provided by the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh a partnership of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments.
