Fellowship Time to Support DACA
January 28, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The ELPC Justice Committee will hold a letter-writing, petition-signing, and tweeting advocacy campaign to support the DACA/DreamAct during Fellowship Time following worship on Sun., Jan. 28. Please join us in the Whitfield Lobby (ground floor) to find out how you can best lend your support. We will have the materials you need and some light snacks.
The DACA program was implemented in 2012 to provide an opportunity for some children who arrived in the U.S. illegally to stay in the country legally. The roughly 800,000 participants in the program—commonly referred to as Dreamers—receive a range of benefits, including the ability to acquire work permits, eligibility for in-state tuition, and access to state-subsided health care. The Dreamers, who fall between the ages of 16–35, must be enrolled in high school or already have earned a diploma or G.E.D. to qualify. Participants can renew their status every two years.
