Systemic Racism: Discovering Our Implicit Bias

Throughout 2018, ELPC’s Mission Board will be presenting a series of events, titled Facing Systemic Racism. Discussions of racism often involve our personal experiences. What we may not realize is how racism in our social systems and institutions impacts our racial relationships. To tackle racism in our society, we need to acknowledge the systems in our society that create institutional racism and racial privilege.
Join us for the third program in our series, titled “Systemic Racism: Discovering Our Implicit Bias.” Our discussion and activities will explore these questions:
- What exactly is implicit bias?
- How does it work?
- Why is it important to understand and recognize it?
- What can I do about it?
We will share a potluck dinner together, beginning at 5:30 pm. Bring a side or dessert to share.
