5:30 MARGARET GLASPY
Emotions and Math is Margaret Glaspy’s debut album, to be released by ATO Records on June 17. After cutting her teeth in New York and Boston, where she was a touring musician and played in other people’s bands, Emotions and Math signals an assured new direction for Glaspy, who’s 27 and grew up in Red Bluff, California. She self-produced the album, which frames her revealing ruminations in shards of jagged guitar rock. There is early buzz for the album; Rolling Stone hailed first single “You and I” for its “hot barbs of electric guitar.”
7:00 BOY & BEAR
Named a “Top 5 Australian Acts You Need To Know Now” by USA Today, Boy & Bear is Dave Hosking (lead singer/guitars), Killian Gavin (vocals/guitars), Tim Hart (drums, vocals, guitars), Jon Hart (vocals/keys/mandolin) and Dave Symes (bass). Their last album, Harlequin Dream received several ARIA Award nominations, including Best Group, Best Rock Album and Producer Of The Year. This followed their award-winning debut LP Moonfire, which won five ARIA awards in 2011. The quintet made their first trip to the States in two years when they appeared at SXSW 2014, and followed it with a sold-out spring headline tour in support of Harlequin Dream. The band made their U.S. late night television debut on Conan. The band’s new album, Limit Of Love, was released October 9, 2015.
8:45 LUCIUS
Vocalists Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig, backed by bandmates Dan Molad, Pete Lalish and Andy Burri–spent more than 250 days on the road in the past year. They’ve headlined all over the US and Europe, including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, End of The Road, Reading and Leeds Festivals and more and shared the stage with a variety of musicians including Roger Waters, Jack White, Mavis Staples, Jeff Tweedy, Sara Bareilles, The Head and the Heart, Tegan and Sara, and David Byrne. Their critically acclaimed debut LP, Wildewoman (2013) was followed by Good Grief in 2015.
