DRESS CODE for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) Dance Classes at Hope Academy
Changing rooms are not available, so students should come wearing their dance attire under their street clothes. Bags, labeled with the student’s name, will be provided to keep street clothes in one place until after class. Long hair must be pulled back and pinned securely into a bun away from the dancer’s face and neck. Hair that is too short for a bun must be pinned or styled neatly. Pony tails, or loose hanging hair styles are not allowed. For safety purposes, all jewelry should be removed with the exception of stud earrings.
Students may wear the dance attire that best fits their gender identity or expression.
- Girls: black leotard (short sleeve or tank), pink footed tights and pink leather ballet shoes.
- Boys: fitted black yoga pants or shorts, a white t-shirt, white socks and black leather ballet shoes.

We will have gently used dance clothing and shoes available in a range of sizes. Please come, with your child, to try on ballet and tap shoes and find appropriate leotards and tights. We will be accepting cash donations (pay what you can) that will be used to purchase additional shoes and clothing. Additionally, if you have any dance wear that your child has outgrown, please drop it off at the Highland entrance of East Liberty Presbyterian Church (in a bag labeled “Hope Academy”) so that another student can put it to good use.

Loose, comfortable clothing that you can move in easily (you should be able to bend over, touch your toes, and still be covered).Yoga pants or leggings with a tank top or short sleeved shirt, plus a cardigan or hoodie to layer.

Footless tights or leggings and no shoes or socks. This class is taken barefoot.
