On World Communion Sunday, October 4, we will come together at the Lord’s table and celebrate Christ’s peace that extends throughout all creation. As we receive the Peace & Global Witness Offering that day, we celebrate that we are offered everything we need to continue the work of building the household of God with active peacemakers—locally and globally. By participating in the Peace & Global Witness Offering, we extend Christ’s peace throughout our community and our world. With our siblings in every time and place, we begin at the communion table, and commit to building a more just and peaceful world. We celebrate the truth found in II Thessalonians, “May the God of peace give you peace at all times in all ways.”
Through our participation in this offering, we support healing, peace, and reconciliation; and serve God’s people in Cameroon, where violence and conflict threaten; with ministries of reconciliation inside prison walls in the U.S.; and in Malawi, where peacemakers seek to eradicate diseases like COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS. We will retain 25% of the offering to strengthen our church’s anti-racism and reconciliation ministries, and our wider community.
Visit PCUSA.org for more information on how our gifts promote peace in our world. We pray that the God of Peace might inspire us to be peacemakers in every word and deed as we celebrate World Communion Sunday and give generously to the Peace & Global Witness Offering.
