“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”—Matthew 25:40
In a nutshell, that’s what being a Matthew 25 congregation means—actively engaging in the world around us, so our faith comes alive and wakes up to new ministry possibilities; acting boldly and compassionately serving people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. The PC(USA) Mission Agency identifies three marks of a Matthew 25 church as:
- Building Congregational Vitality
- Dismantling Structural Racism
- Eradicating Systemic Poverty
Over the coming months, we will first explore the three Matthew 25 markers and later identify ways in which ELPC is currently engaging in the community and world. Our next feature will focus on Building Congregational Vitality.
