Lately I have been reflecting on how much of my journey of faith has been shaped by the invitation of another. In high school, my best friend Susan invited me to an ecumenical youth group that met on Mondays nearby, and I said yes. That became the first of many Mondays spent laughing, praying, singing, and hearing God’s Word with a community of kids from different schools and churches—many of whom are still dear friends of mine today. Through this youth group, I engaged in my first Bible study, first faith retreat, first mission project, and first Protestant worship service. Read More

I was signing off a Zoom call a few weeks ago and a pastor friend of mine said, in John 20:19–23, when Jesus appeared to the disciples behind locked doors, he said four things to them:
Peace be with you (twice).
I am sending you.
Receive the Holy Spirit.
Forgive others’ sins.

Dear ELPC Members, Friends and Staff,
We have had a great response to our advertisements and postings for the Senior Pastor position at ELPC. The Pastoral Nominating Committee continues to meet, pray, and review candidates’ resumés and statements of faith. We have begun interviewing candidates and have asked a few back for second interviews. As of mid-April, we have narrowed down the candidate list and now are preparing for in-person interviews and seeing and hearing these candidates preach in neutral pulpits.
