Do you recall times when you held up your index finger and sang, “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine,” and can you remember the joy and pride that you felt? If ever there was a time to let our lights shine, it is now. During this season when we as a community are struggling with the effects of COVID-19, have heightened awareness of racial inequities, and are gearing up for a Presidential election, we need God’s light.
“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to God who is in heaven.” —Matthew 5:14, 16.
During Stewardship season, we are emphasizing that we glorify God by being “the Light of the World.” We are the messengers of hope, especially in this time of uncertainty. One way that we can share God’s love and light is through pledging. Our pledges keep ELPC strong and vibrant so that we might share God’s love.
In order to preserve the celebratory experience of stewardship during quarantine, we invite you to drive by ELPC on Stewardship Sunday, November 8, 1:30–3 pm, and personally (and safely) give your pledge card and food donations (canned fruit and tuna, pastas, instant potatoes, etc.) to volunteers. If you do not feel inclined to come to the church, volunteers will drive to your home on Sunday, November 15, to pick up your gifts so that everyone can enjoy the celebration. At any time between October 1–November 8, you can mail your pledge or submit it online.
Thank you to everyone who has continued honoring their pledges during this time of worshiping virtually. Our pledges keep our church functioning—and we are grateful for the extra effort many have summoned to keep their pledges current.
