Here’s what’s happening in worship this week.

An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our theme this month is “Awesome God.” The Rev. Dr. Randy Bush will preach from Mark 1:29-39.
Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, at 11 am
This Sunday, we will welcome the Allegheny Drifters Bluegrass Band as our special guest musicians. They will feature Gospel music from their recently recorded CD. The Rev. Dr. Randy Bush will preach. His sermon will be entitled “You’ve Known All Along,” from Isaiah 40:21–31.
Taizé | Wednesday, at 7 pm
An hour-long service including sung prayers; simple, beautiful music; a time of silence; spoken and silent prayers; and an opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. This week’s after-Taizé class is an extended time of music and prayer!
Christian Education Classes
We offer Christian Education classes for persons of all ages, from infancy through adulthood, on Sundays from 9:45–10:45 am. Click the links for adult class descriptions and children and youth offerings.
Contemporaries | Second Floor Parlor
The Contemporaries class will combine with the Seekers class.
Journey With Scripture | Second Floor Library
All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and decrees (Psalm 25:10). Our scripture readings help us to discern God’s call to travel steadily upon these paths through all seasons and places. Christ and friends provide companionship and assurance that a homecoming awaits. Come join us for these readings:
Isaiah 40:21–31; Psalm 147:1–11, 20; 1 Corinthians 9:16–23; and Mark 1:29–39.
Seekers | Room 234
The Christian Churches and American Slavery: Tragedy (and Heroism) in U.S. History
Historian and Presbyterian elder Peter Gilmore will continue our exploration into the economic importance of slavery in the 19th century U.S., the development of an anti-slavery movement, and the response of Presbyterians and other churches. He will examine the national scene and look closely at developments in Western Pennsylvania.
Soul Food | Room 244 and Pastor’s Conference Room
We will continue discussing our theme, Traveling Your Road to Joy, using readings from Thomas Merton and others.
