We are all too aware that Christmas is fast approaching, and soon we will be in search of perfect gifts that communicate to friends and family how much we know and love them. Although we cannot give the perfect gift, we can give generously, knowing, as the New Testament letter of James says, “every generous act of giving…is from above.”
The only perfect gift ever given was the one we received in Jesus Christ, and The Christmas Joy Offering celebrates the coming of Jesus Christ, the “perfect gift” from a gracious God. The Christmas Joy Offering, helps us respond to God’s gift by generously supporting retired, present, and future church leaders, and provides financial assistance to survivors of catastrophic events—such as Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, and the forest fires in California.
We can never match God’s perfect gift in Jesus, but can testify to who we have known God to be. Our perfect gift comes from above, and our gifts reflect our generous God by supporting church leaders and responding to people in need. So, prayerfully consider giving generously on Sunday, December 15.
