Here’s what’s happening this week in worship at ELPC.

Journey Worship | Sunday, 8:45 am

An interactive, energetic service for those seeking a fresh encounter with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Michael will preach from John 2:1–11 (Inclusive Bible). Join us in our new Journey worship location, the Chapel. At this time, we are unable to livestream the service.

Sanctuary Worship | Sunday, 11 am

Our largest service, with music from the Chancel Choir and an organ prelude prior to the service. Pastor Michael will preach from John 2:1–11 (Inclusive Bible) and deliver his sermon, “The Good News is… So Good It Catches Us By Surprise.”

Taizé Prayer Service | Wednesday, 7 pm

Join us in the Chapel to experience Taizé’s prayerful songs and quiet meditation as we dwell in the Sermon on the Mount to ground and inspire us in the radical teachings of Jesus, and seek to be salt and light in our own troubled times.

Lenten Spiritual Practices

During Lent, the ELPC Spiritual Life Ministry will be offering three different spiritual pathways to communally engage in our Lenten theme of: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News of Lent.

We will ground ourselves in Jesus’ life and ministry, exploring radical welcome, love for neighbor, care for the vulnerable, and nonviolence in the face of injustice. We also will engage in ancient practices that root us deeper in Christ and create space for substantive change: Lectio Divina and Visio Divina. Read More

Step Into the Story of Nell & Poll Exhibit

As we recognize Black History Month, ELPC’s Facing Systemic Racism, Spiritual Life, and Worship, Music, and the Arts Committees invite you to a storywalk on the lives of Nell and Poll, members of a family enslaved and sold by two of our early founders. This unique, self-guided experience in the Trustees Room will include six stations that trace significant milestones and moments in the lives of Nell and Poll. Read More

Help Us Enrich Our Worship Together

The Worship, Music, and the Arts (WMA) Committee invites you to share your ideas for making ELPC’s liturgies more interactive, experiential, and engaging. Over the past year, our worship services have incorporated embodied practices that remind us of the physical body’s central role in Christian faith—such as anointing, renewing baptismal vows, and even the symbolic burning of spiritual and emotional burdens. These moments have offered powerful opportunities to connect with the divine in tangible, meaningful ways.

Now, we want to hear from you! Which practices have spoken most deeply to your spirit? What new ideas do you have for experiential offerings that could enrich our worship life? Your feedback will help us continue creating spaces where all can encounter God through word, music, and action.

In March, WMA will host a listening session for congregants who would like to share their thoughts in person. If you’d like to participate—or just share your ideas via email—please contact WMA chair, Carol Mullen, at carolmullen.pgh@gmail.com. Be sure to indicate if you’re interested in joining the listening session.

Together, let’s imagine new ways to embody our faith and celebrate God’s presence among us.
