Each year on World Communion Sunday, we receive the Peace & Global Witness Offering, which enables Presbyterians to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice across the world. ELPC will receive the Peace & Global Witness Offering during worship on Sunday, October 7.
Individual congregations utilize 25% of this offering to connect with the global witness of Christ’s peace. In past years, ELPC has committed our local portion to the Pittsburgh Presbytery Freedom Rising fund for ministry to African-American males. Mid councils retain 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation, and the remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence—including our own—through education and Christian witness projects.
